FanDuel offers two easy to use withdrawal methods, PayPal and Check.  Paypal withdrawals are processed within 48 hours, although in my experience they’ve typically been processed faster.  Withdrawing via check takes between 7-10 business days.  Users whose winnings exceeds $600 in any calendar year must fill out a 1099-MISC tax form.  While this may seem a bit annoying, this is part of what helps to keep FanDuel legal in the united states.

FanDuel has a huge variety of contest types.  Whether you want to face thousands of users to fight for a huge first place prize, try your luck at doubling your money, or battle an opponent one on one FanDuel has you covered.  You can enter paid contests for as little as one dollar or play buy ins as high as $5,300 or more.

Guaranteed Prize Pool Tournaments (GPPs) are the contests on FanDuel that you’ve probably heard about.  Entering these contests often gives you a chance to win prizes hundreds or even thousands of times bigger than your entry fee, with first place prizes in these contests sometimes reaching $1 million or more.  As the name suggests, the prize pools of these contests are guaranteed, meaning regardless of whether or not they get their desired number of entries the prize pool will stay the same.  Around 20% of the players typically win a piece of the prize pool, in a ladder style payout structure.  First place wins the most, followed by second, and so on.

Head to Head contests are similar to what you’re likely accustomed to in season long fantasy football.  If you’ve played season long fantasy football, you likely compete against one member of your league each week.  FanDuel’s head to heads allow you to play another fanduel user one on one, with the winner nearly doubling their money.  You have the option to either create a contest and wait for someone to join you or to join a contest of a user who’s already created a contest.  Aside from GPPs, these are my favorite contests to play.

50/50s are contests where around the top half of users roughly double their buy in amount.  Field size can range from 4 players to thousands of players, but the most you can win is double your buy in.  The advantage of these contests are that they, like head to heads, give better odds of winning.  They can be a more consistent way to win for daily fantasy players.

Multiplers work similarly to 50/50s, but the amount you can win is greater.  There’s a variety of different multipliers including triple ups and quintuple ups.  As the amount you can win increases, the percentage of the field paid winnings decreases.  For example, in a triple nearly the top 1/3 of entries are paid 3X their buy in.

Leagues are similar to tournaments, but field sizes are smaller.  The higher in you finish in leagues, the more you’ll win.  Leagues are a great opportunity to win multiple times your buy in, without having to face off against thousands of other players.  The field sizes of these contests range from 3 entrants to 100 entrants.

Offered Sports

Unlike other daily fantasy sites, FanDuel has focused their efforts on the 5 biggest professional sports leagues:

  • NFL
  • NBA
  • MLB
  • NHL
  • Soccer

There’s no shortage of action on FanDuel.  On any given day you could enter tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of contests (although you can play for as little as $1).  The NFL is of course the flagship sport of all daily fantasy sites, but it’s not hard to find the contests you like to play for any of FanDuel’s offered sports.
